Tempered Glass Mosaics Workshop

In this workshop you will learn the technique and process for creating your own 8” x 8” tempered glass mosaic. We will walk through preparing your substrate, creating your design, breaking the tempered glass and adhering it over your design. At the end of the workshop, you will take home your creation ready to hang.

Level: Beginner to advanced (no prior mosaic experience required)

Goal: Learn to transform salvaged safety/tempered glass into jewel-toned, light reflecting, multi-dimensional mosaic art

Key Mediums: Tempered (crash) glass, mixed-media underlayers and adhesive. I will have some design elements available, but I encourage all participants to create your own design and gather materials to make it personal. You can use tissue paper, children’s drawings and artwork (what a wonderful way to preserve these special memories!), greeting cards, paper napkins or just about anything flat and thin that you can find in the scrapbooking section at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. Rickrack and narrow ribbons make beautiful borders to surround your main focal point. You can also, paint your own design directly onto the substrate (I suggest acrylic. Please contact me to arrange to pick up the substrate ahead of time.) I will provide your substrate, tempered glass, tweezers, appropriate adhesive and paintbrushes to apply it.
