1812 Bicentennial Art Contest 2011

Meet the Members

Application for Membership

The Monroe Art League was founded in September of 1959 by a group of local artists interested in encouraging artistic talent and appreciation of fine art in the community.

As membership grew, the organization hosted exhibitions in various venues, both indoors and out.

Other art related activities open to the public were adult classes, children's classes, and children's exhibitions, with scholarships awarded on the high school level.

Many member exhibitions are presented in conjunction with various community events.

Currently, members exhibit one or two paintings monthly in local businesses and public buildings, rotating both paintings and venues. Two one-person exhibits are ongoing. Dorsch Library hosts one such exhibit monthly, while the newly built Monroe Bank and Trust office building hosts a series of exhibits which run for a period of two months each.

The Monroe Art League meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m., September through May at the United Way, 216 N. Monroe St. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
